Bradford Drive, Epsom
Extension and Refurbishment
2027
Planning
A substantial extension and remodelling of a detached Epsom home, creating additional space across both the ground floor and roof level.
Bradford Drive involved the extension and remodelling of an existing detached house to provide additional living space at ground floor together with a new loft extension. The proposals retain the main structure of the existing house while significantly changing how the home relates to its garden.
At ground floor, the extension creates a more generous arrangement of living spaces, with large areas of glazing opening directly onto the rear garden. Above, the loft extension provides additional accommodation while giving the rear elevation a stronger and more considered architectural form. The new work is expressed simply, with a restrained rendered exterior complemented by areas of brickwork and carefully positioned openings.
The changes in level across the site are incorporated into the landscaping, with terraces, steps and planting forming a gradual transition between the house and lower garden. Together, the extensions make considerably better use of the existing property while retaining the scale and character of a family home.
