New Build

2024

Planning submitted

A sensitive residential intervention within the historic centre of Ewell, responding carefully to its established context.

Located in the centre of Ewell, this project deals with the adaptation of an existing property in a sensitive village setting. The design approach is deliberately measured, balancing the need to improve the building for contemporary use with the character and scale of its surroundings. New work is treated as part of the wider composition rather than as an isolated addition, with careful attention given to roof form, openings, materials and the way the building is seen from neighbouring streets and properties.

Internally, the proposal looks to make better use of the existing footprint, improving circulation and bringing more natural light into the principal spaces. The project reflects an approach we often take to work in established settings: retain the elements that contribute positively, remove or rationalise those that do not, and make new interventions clear but quiet. The aim is a building that feels improved and purposeful without losing the qualities that made the original property appropriate to Ewell in the first place.
